ToolStackReview started from a simple frustration: every "best AI tools for small business" list online seemed to recommend the same five products regardless of what the article was actually about, and most of them read like they were written by the software companies themselves.

We built this site to be different. Our small editorial team researches software the way a buyer would — comparing public pricing pages, testing free trials and demo accounts, reading through user complaints on review platforms, and checking whether a tool's marketing claims hold up once you're actually inside the dashboard.

Our approach to reviews

Every comparison on this site is built around three questions: What does this tool actually do well? What does it cost once you're past the free tier? And who is it a bad fit for? We think that third question matters as much as the first two — most software isn't universally good or bad, it's a good or bad match for a specific type of business.

We focus specifically on U.S. small businesses: solo founders, teams under 50 people, and owner-operators who don't have a dedicated IT department to manage complex enterprise software. That focus shapes which tools we cover and how we evaluate them — a feature that matters to a 500-person company might be irrelevant noise to a five-person team.

How we make money

ToolStackReview is supported by two things: display advertising through Google AdSense, and — on some pages — affiliate links, where we may earn a small commission if you sign up for a tool through our link, at no extra cost to you. Advertising and affiliate relationships never determine our rankings or recommendations. If a tool is mediocre, we say so, whether or not we have a financial relationship with the company behind it.
